Videography Requirments

Acceptable Formats:

  • .mp4

  • .mov

  • .braw

  • H.264

  • H.265

Color Space:

  • LOG is acceptable if necessary, but CINE or natural picture profile is preferred.

Additional Notes:

  • Raw files only – please avoid applying special filters or edits.

  • If you plan to use a format not listed above, connect with the manager for approval before shooting.

Must Have:

  • Experience: Must have experience shooting at least two weddings.

  • Manual Settings: Never use AUTO mode. All camera settings must be manually adjusted and set before filming starts.

Video Quality:

  • Ensure a straight horizon in all shots.

  • Vows/Speeches can be recorded at 24 fps if more light is required.

  • Footage should be recorded in 8-bit 4:2:0, which is sufficient for our needs.

  • Maintain a bitrate within the range of 50-200 Mbps to keep file sizes manageable.

Audio:

  • Vows and speeches must be recorded with a lavalier mic or other high-quality external audio equipment. Inner camera audio is not acceptable.

  • Consider using a field recorder for additional audio recording.

  • If audio coverage is booked, the first look, ceremony, and toasts must be recorded in full with proper audio quality.

Lighting:

  • Use external lighting in low-light situations (e.g., indoor reception shots).

  • We recommend an angled key light and a hair light behind the subject for optimal results.

Stabilization:

  • Use a gimbal or other stabilization equipment for filming. Handheld footage and monopod shots are not acceptable.

Exposure:

  • Ensure images are neither overexposed nor underexposed. The histogram values should be as centered as possible.

Composition:

  • Maintain a straight horizon in your shots.

  • Focus on capturing emotions and candid moments.

Camera Maintenance:

  • Ensure the camera sensor is clean.

White Balance:

  • Use custom white balance instead of AUTO for both photo and video to ensure color accuracy.

Videography Equipment Requirments


Main Camera:

  • A DSLR or mirrorless camera capable of shooting at least 8-bit, 1920×1080 resolution at 60fps.

  • Recommended models: Sony A7S III, Sony FX3, Canon R5, or equivalents.

Backup Camera:

  • A reliable backup camera capable of recording 1080p at 24fps with a similar color profile to the primary camera.

  • Example models: Sony A7M3, Sony A7M4, or equivalents.

Lighting:

  • LED video light or flapjack light for consistent lighting.

  • Recommended setup: An angled key light and a hair light behind the subject for optimal results in low-light scenarios.

Lenses:
A range of lenses to cover various shooting needs

  • Wide-angle lens

  • Semi-wide-angle lens

  • Telephoto lens (e.g., 24-70mm, 70-200mm)

  • Macro lens (e.g., 90mm)

Stabilizer:

  • Lavalier mic (e.g., Rode Wireless Mic, Zoom, Tascam).

  • Digital voice recorder for high-quality sound capture.

  • Accessories:

    • Headphone male to RCA male cable

    • RCA female to 1/4-inch male adapter

    • RCA male to XLR male cable

    • Windshield for lavalier mics to handle unpredictable weather.

Memory Cards:

  • Cameras that support recording to dual cards simultaneously are preferred for redundancy..

Accessories:

  • Extra batteries

  • Tripod

  • Additional LED lights or external bulbs for low-light conditions

  • Ample storage media (SD cards, SSDs, etc.)

  • Laptop for on-site backups and file management
